The Hornets won on a walk-off RBI single by Sean Pokorak after they entered the ninth inning down, 3-2. Lynchburg scored twice and compiled three hits in the bottom of the ninth, and tied the score before the first out could be recorded.
Alex Neeld put the Spartans ahead, 3-2, in the ninth with a solo home run and now has three homers through the first two games.
Matthew Wade also went long earlier in the game for his first home run of the season and finished the day tied with
Lucas Prendergast for the team lead in hits with two.
Konnor Reeser and
Sam Ross put together a superb combined outing on the mound as they held the Hornet offense to just two runs on just two hits through the first eight innings.
