NEWTOWN, Pa. – York College senior second baseman Lucas Prendergast was honored with a spot on the 2026 Baseball Academic All-MAC Team as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) office on Monday. Prendergast was one of 10 student-athletes recognized on the team.
The Spring Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes both in the classroom and in athletic competition during the 2026 spring semester. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote on the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a spring semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.
Prendergast posted a superb 3.83 spring semester GPA while working towards his master's degree in strategic leadership and management. The New Jersey native earned his bachelor's degree in business just three years, graduating in the spring of 2025. Prendergast was also honored this season as an Academic All-District selection by College Sports Communicators for his academic and athletic prowess.
On the diamond this past season, Prendergast achieved All-American status as he was named a third-team selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) to go along with an ABCA First Team All-Region nod and a First Team All-MAC Commonwealth pick. The Spartan standout was one of the most productive second basemen in the nation as she hit .403 and slugged .636 with 62 hits while posting a .503 on-base percentage.
Prendergast ended his career as a two-time Academic All-MAC performer, joining Austin Denlinger as the only two Spartans in program history to earn the honor twice.
