Lucas Prendergast earned All-America honors as the ABCA/Rawlings All-America teams were revealed during the opening ceremony of the NCAA Division III College Baseball Word Series on Thursday evening.
Prendergast garnered a third-team
ABCA/Rawlings All-American selection as decided by a committee of Division III coaches.
The Spartan senior second baseman put together stellar season, batting a career-best .403 with a team-high 62 hits, a team-leading 17 doubles, a team-best .636 slugging and a team-high .503 on-base percentage to go along with two triples, five home runs and 28 RBI. He also held a team-high 15-game hit streak and a 23-game reached base streak. Prendergast ranked second in batting average and on-base percentage, while ranking third in slugging among the five second basemen selected to the ABCA/Rawlings Division III All-American teams.
The All-American selection punctuates a fantastic career for Prendergast who ranks third in program history with a .483. on-base percentage as he hit .366 with 206 hits, 50 doubles, five triples, 13 home runs, 107 RBI and slugged .542. He is now the 11th player in program history to earn an ABCA All-American nod.
