Lucas Prendergast led the Spartans to a three-game series win over defending national champion Lynchburg this weekend in Virginia.
Prendergast hit .462 (6-for-13) with two runs scored, two doubles, one triple and four RBIs. He slugged at .769 while his on-base percentage was .563 as he drew two walks and was also hit by a pitch. He was also perfect in the field in 16 opportunities.
In the game one win over the Hornets, Prendergast was 1-for-5 with two RBI and a walk. In game two, he was 2-for-4 with a run scored in the lone loss for the weekend.
Prendergast saved his best for last as he was 3-for-4 with a run scored, two RBIs, two doubles and a triple to go along with a walk in Sunday's game two come-from-behind win. He had a two-out, two-run triple to kick off the scoring in the top of the second as the Spartans took the early lead. Prendergast then doubled and scored in the Spartans' game-winning six-run top of the ninth inning rally.
The Spartans' two wins at Lynchburg were rare as the Hornets were 22-1 at home last year and are now 73-9 over their last four seasons at home.
