YORK, PA – The York College softball team placed six players on the MAC All-Commonwealth squads as announced by the league office on Wednesday morning.

The Commonwealth champs saw shortstop Alyssa Harhigh earn the lone first-team berth while pitchers Amanda Criss and Natalie Rietema were second-team picks. Second baseman Morgan Sauers, center fielder Taylor Coon, and catcher Daphney Adams were each honorable mention honorees.

Harhigh concludes her career as a three-time first-team MAC All-Commonwealth selection. She is a four-time all-conference honoree as she was a second-team All-Capital Athletic Conference pick as a freshman. She was outstanding all year as she enters the NCAA Tournament hitting .372 with 36 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 27 RBI. She has stolen 19 bases and owns an on-base percentage of .500 as she has 17 walks and been hit by a school-record 14 pitches.

Harhigh's name is all over the Spartan record book as she is the school record holder for career runs scored (150), doubles (44), RBIs (148), total bases (349), and hit by pitch (39). She is second in slugging percentage (.686), on base percentage (.471), hits (193), and home runs (30).

Criss came to the Spartan program as a graduate transfer as she has been fantastic in the circle for the Green and White. Criss has made 26 appearances with 20 starts as she was 13-7 overall with a 1.94 ERA. She threw 144 innings, finished with 18 complete games including six shutouts. Criss has 112 strikeouts and only 25 walks as opponents are hitting .249 against her.

Rietema made her freshman year an impact one as she teamed with Criss to provide a great one-two punch for the Spartans. Rietema has made 21 appearances with 18 starts as she is 10-9 with a 2.70 ERA. Rietema has five shutouts with 11 complete games as she struck 73 batters and opponents hit .245 against her.

Sauers has had a strong sophomore year as she is hitting .366 in 42 starts for the year. She has scored 25 runs, with five doubles, one triple and ten RBI. Sauers has posted a .423 slugging percentage and a .400 on-base percentage. She had a team-high 16 game-hitting during the Spartans hot run at the end of the year.

Coon has put together a strong senior campaign as she has played in 40 games with 39 starts. Coon is hitting .320 with 21 runs scored, seven doubles and 15 RBI. She is 4-for-4 in stolen bases as she has an on-base percentage of .346. Coon has a team-high 14 multi-hit games including three three-hit games. She had a career-high four RBI in the May 1 win over Albright.

Adams becomes a three-time All-Commonwealth selection. She was the 2021 Commonwealth Rookie of the Year and was a first-team pick last year. Adams has caught all of the Spartans' 280 defensive innings as she owns a .983 fielding percentage in addition to nabbing eight base stealers this season. At the plate, Adams is hitting .275 with 16 runs scored, 14 doubles and a home run. She has driven in 19 runs while she owns a .389 on-base percentage with 19 walks and four hit by pitches.

The Spartans will learn where they will be heading for the NCAA Regionals on Monday, May 15 when the tournament field is announced. The Green and White earned their second MAC Commonwealth crown last weekend as they lost their first tournament game before running off five straight wins including a sweep of top-seeded Lebanon Valley to capture the crown. The title is their second in the last three seasons. The tournament berth will be the third in school history.
