York, Pa. – The York College softball team went on the road Saturday to face Albright in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader. The Spartans swept the Lions, winning 13-3 and 8-4. The Green and White improve to 3-1 in Commonwealth play.

How It Happened
The Lions plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the first on an RBI double.
The Spartan offense got going in the fourth inning when
Noelle Smith hit a grand slam, putting the Green and White ahead, 4-1.
York put four more runs on the board in the sixth inning. Smith added her fifth RBI of the game on a double.
Sara DeFrancesco followed with a pinch hit two-run double.
Alexis McDonaugh later singled, extending the Spartan lead to 8-1.
The Spartans added an additional five runs in the top of the fifth inning, thanks to RBI doubles from
Kyrsten Coppage and
Madison Karpovich.
Albright mustered up two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Courtney Freese came in for relief, pitching the last .2 innings, allowing a hit and striking out two.
Natalie Rietema earned the win for the Spartans, improving to 4-1 on the season.

Sara DeFrancesco put the Spartans ahead in the top of fifth inning, launching a grand slam.
The Lions cut the Spartan lead to 5-3 on a two-run double in the bottom half of the fifth inning.
Alexis McDonaugh added an insurance run in the top of the sixth, singling up the middle, scoring
Allison Hunsberger.
The Green and White's seventh and eighth runs came off of RBI doubles from McKeown and
Madison Karpovich.
Albright plated one run in the bottom of the seventh.
Courtney Freese improves to 3-0 on the season. In 4.2 inning of work, Freese allowed four hits, three earned runs, and eight walks. She struck out a career-high six batters.
Kyrsten Coppage came in for relief, pitching 2.1 innings while allowing two hits and a run. She walked four and struck out four.
