CHESTER, Pa. – The York College softball team traveled down to Widener for a conference doubleheader on Saturday. The Spartans split with the Pride, dropping game one 5-4 and winning game two, 3-2. The Green and White improve to 4-2 in MAC Commonwealth play.

How It Happened
York got on the board first, breaking the scoreless tie in the top of the second.
Madison Karpovich knocked an RBI-single for the 1-0 lead, before
Bri McKeown scored on a passed ball to extend the lead.
The Green and White added another run in the fifth, as Erin Clancy crossed the plate on an RBI groundout from
Danella Silagy.
The Pride pulled closer in the bottom of the fifth with a home run.
In the bottom of the seventh, Widener tallied two more runs to send the game into extras.
After a scoreless eighth, the Pride walked it off on a two-run home run from Jocelin Mayorga.
Natalie Rietema pitched to all but two Pride batters, allowing five hits, five earned runs, and eight walks in her 8.2 innings of work. Rietema struck out eight on the day.
Courtney Freese walked the two hitters she faced.

How It Happened
Widener grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI single.
Alexis McDonaugh helped pull York within one in the top of the third with an RBI double.
The Green and White tied it up in the fifth, as McKeown collected an RBI double of her own.
Gretchen Barstad crossed the plate in the top of the seventh for York on a fielder's choice, putting York ahead, 3-2.
Kyrsten Coppage spun the complete game for the Green and White, allowing only five hits, two earned runs, and two walks. Coppage struck out six on her way to her second win in the circle this season.
