OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The York College softball team traveled to Baltimore Tuesday afternoon to face Notre Dame of Maryland in a non-conference doubleheader. The Spartans walk away with a sweep, winning game one 14-8 and game two 8-0.

How It Happened
Alexis McDonaugh put the Green and White on the board first, hitting a two-run single in the top of the first inning.
The Gators took the lead in the bottom of the first, scoring four runs.
Notre Dame (Md.) extended its lead in the bottom of the second, going up 6-2.
York responded in the top of the third inning.
Noelle Smith hit a three-run home run to put the Spartans within one run. The Green and White loaded the bases again, just before
Allison Hunsberger had an RBI hit by pitch to tie up the game.
Danella Silagy put York ahead with a two-run double. McDonaugh followed with a two RBI single, giving York a 10-6 lead.
The Gators tacked on two more runs in the fourth.
In the sixth inning, the Spartans padded their lead.
Madison Karpovich had a pinch-hit single through the left side, bringing in McDonaugh.
Ashlyn Weigle followed with a two-run single, extending the lead to 13-8
Kyrsten Coppage started in the circle for the Green and White. In three innings of work, she surrendered four hits, seven runs, and four walks. Coppage struck out three.
Courtney Freese came in for relief and earning the win. In four innings of work, she allowed just one Gator hit, one run, and three walks. Freese also struck out three.

How It Happened
The Spartans struck first early, as Smith clobbered a two-run home run in the top of the first inning.
Later that inning, Hunsberger crossed the plate on an RBI groundout from McDonaugh.
Danella Silagy then scored on an error to put York ahead, 4-0.
In the third, Smith tacked on another run for the Green and White, singling home
Gretchen Barstad.
Smith grabbed yet another RBI on a single in the top of the fifth.
Bri McKeown followed that up with an RBI double to center field.
The last Spartan run crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly, off the bat of Karpovich.
Natalie Rietema spun the complete five inning scoreless game for York, allowing only two hit and two walks. Rietema struck out seven batters.
