How it Happened

• The Spartans opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as Joe Capobianco ripped an RBI single to center to score Austin Denlinger for the 1-0 lead. A wild pitch moved Jack Barry to third and Capobianco to second, setting the stage for Luke Turner to come through with a huge two-run double down the left field line to give the Spartans to early 3-0 lead.

• York added a single run in the second as Craig Wiley walked and then came home on a Jayden Cowan double to push the lead to 4-0.

• The bottom of the third began with Barry launching his school-record 15th home run of the year, an oppo bomb to left, as the lead grew to 5-0. Later in the inning, Capobianco advanced to home when the Blazers got a pick off at first base for the second out of the inning.

• The Blazers got a run in the sixth as the Spartans made an error on a sacrifice bunt that allowed the runner from second to score. The Spartans were able to nail a second runner at the plate on the play, minimizing the damage.

• Turner closed out the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh to provide for the final 7-1 Spartan margin of victory.
