How It Happened:
• Eastern got on the board first scoring a run without registering a single hit in the first inning. The Eagles used a hit by pitch, a stolen base, an error, and a passed ball to bring in a run on a Zachary Belansek groundout to shortstop to grab the early 1-0 lead.
• The Eagles again used some wild pitching by the Spartans as they led off the second inning with back-to-back walks before another run came in to score on a single. The Eagles would leave the bases loaded however, only managing one run in the frame.
• York got a run back using a pair of walks to lead off the inning to put runners on base before Luke Turner would drive in Rob Acierno for one of his five runs on the day to cut the Eagle lead in half. Eastern would respond in the fifth with a pair of runs of their own with a sac fly and a Thomas Aguila double to bring in another run and Eastern stretched their lead out to 4-1.
• After a pair of free passes to start the sixth inning, Sal D'Onofrio and Grant Oberholtzer used back-to-back RBI knocks to trim the Eagle advantage to just one. The Spartan offense would use four hits including a two-run double off the bat of Jimmy Wiegers to take their first lead of the game in the seventh inning. Wiegers would come in to score on an RBI-groundout from Oberholtzer and York now led 6-4. Eastern would lead off the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer from Balansek to bring the game to within one.
• York would outscore the Eagles 9-2 in the final two innings including putting a seven-spot up in the ninth frame. York only needed two hits in the ninth inning to score their six runs as the Spartan hitters were walked four times, hit by a pitch, and used two sac flies to do their damage. The game was busted wide open when Craig Wiley had a bases-clearing double to drive in three runs and put the game out of reach. Eastern would get two runs back in the bottom half of the stanza but that was all they could manage and York won their third in a row by a 15-7 margin.
