How it Happened:

• Montclair opened the scoring as Chelsea Orban fired a low shot into the goal on the Red Hawks first possession and first shot of the year as the guests gained the early advantage. The Spartans would answer back but it took almost ten minutes as they peppered the Montclair goal only to have goalie Amanda Maguire turn the Spartans away as MSU hung onto the lead.

• The Spartans finally got on the board with 17:29 left in the first half as Skye Slater drove towards the goal and delivered an easy pass to Meghan Fox who promptly deposited the ball into the back of the net, tying the game at one. Fox made it 2-1 just over two and a half minutes later as she scored an unassisted goal.

• Fox kept the Spartan offense humming as she made it 3-1 with a third goal with 7:46 left in the opening half. Devin Hursey then lined up for a free position attempt and found Fox on the doorstep for the simple goal as the Spartan offense continued to pressure the Montclair defense. Fox built on her natural hat trick with her fourth goal of the game as she notched a finish on a free position shot as the Spartans took the three-goal lead to the half.

• The Spartans got off to a very quick start in the second half as Jordan Conley found Regan Cook for the opening tally of the half a mere 57 seconds into the stanza as York's lead grew to 5-1. Senior Melissa Meehling got into the scoring act with an unassisted goal just over a minute and a half later, pushing York's lead to 6-1. Junior Caitlin Rankin increased the Spartan lead by another goal as she scored off a feed from freshman Juliana Greco with 24:25 left in the game.

• The Spartan offense kept right on rolling as Jordan Conley, Rankin, and Baleigh Bradley each scored in the next four minutes as the Spartan lead ballooned to 10-1 with 20 minutes remaining in the second half.

• Rankin scored her third goal of the second half to push the York lead past ten. The Red Hawks ended York's 11 goal run with a Rhiannon Brown goal with 18:21 left in the second half. Montclair made it two straight goals as Megan Mahlstadt registered a man-up goal with 17:15 left in the game as they started to wrestle away a little of the momentum from York. Hursey ended the MSU run with an unassisted goal with 14:42 left to give York a 12-3 lead. Junior Claudia DiVenti pushed the lead back to ten on her first goal of the year. Fox had the assist on the DiVenti goal. DiVenti netted a second straight goal, this time it was unassisted as the York lead stood at 14-3 with just under eight minutes left in the game.

• Freshman Madison Marciniak notched her first collegiate goal with 3:05 left in the game. Orban notched her second goal of the game for the Red Hawks to close out the scoring.
