#7 Women’s Lacrosse Pulls Away Late in Victory over Dickinson

YORK, Pa. - The No.7 York women's lacrosse team put the game away with a fourth quarter run in a 15-11 victory over Dickinson at home on Wednesday evening.

Highlights
The two teams played a back-and-forth opening quarter with the Spartans ending up on top, 5-4. Spartan goalie Audrey Simoes made a big impact in the opening period as she racked up four saves while the Red Devils put eight of their nine shots on goal. York doubled-up Dickinson, 4-2, in the second quarter to open up a 9-6 halftime lead.

After the Spartans took a five-goal lead midway through the third quarter, the Red Devils rallied back with three-straight tallies which cut the York lead to two early in the fourth quarter. From there, York countered with four-straight goals and held Dickinson scoreless for nearly eight minutes to take a commanding 15-9 lead. The Red Devils scored two quick goals and trailed by four with 4:06 left, but turned the ball over on two of their final three possessions and did not register another shot the rest of the way.

York improved to 10-0 all-time against Dickinson … the Spartans are now 3-2 at Kinsley Field this season, while the Red Devils are 3-2 away from home … Kiera McPhillips led the Spartan offense with a career-high seven points on four goals and three assists … Audrey Simoes posted 12 saves and has double-digit saves in three-straight games … Sydney Mentzer led the draw unit with eight draw controls to go along with three goals.
