#7 Women’s Lacrosse Falls at #16 Messiah in Conference Opener

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The seventh-ranked York women's lacrosse team stumbled late for the second-straight game which resulted in an 11-9 loss at No. 16 Messiah in their Commonwealth opener on Wednesday.

Highlights
The Spartans went ahead 9-6 on a Lauren Gillies goal with 7:22 left in the third quarter and did not find the back of the net again the rest of the game while the Falcons racked up five unanswered goals to clinch the win. 

Messiah goalie Grace Hejeebu posted six saves in a fourth-quarter shutout to put a stamp on a banner performance in which she racked up a career-best 20 saves on the day.

The loss snapped York's 34-game regular season win streak against Commonwealth opponents which started in 2021.
