Box Score YORK, PA – The York College baseball team surrendered eight runs in the first inning and fell to Penn State Harrisburg 13-7 in a key Capital Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday afternoon in York. The Spartans fall to 7-24-1 overall and 5-11 in the CAC as their hopes for a spot in the conference playoffs is hanging by a thread. The Lions improve to 15-17 overall and 7-7 in the league.
How It Happened:
• Harrisburg opened the game with ten hits in their first 11 at-bats as they scored eight runs to grab control of the game early. All 11 hits were singles and a number of those hits found holes as York got zero breaks early in the game.
• The Lions added two more runs in the third as their lead grew to 10-0.
• The Harrisburg lead grew to 11-0 in the fourth.
• York got on the board in the fifth. Michael Moore singled and Collin Crowell walked to put runners at first and second with one out. A fielder's choice that forced Crowell at second left Spartans at the corners with two outs. Sean Mohollen doubled to left center, driving in a pair to get the Spartans in the scoring column.
• York dented the plate four times in the seventh as Zach Hossler singled to lead off the inning. Mohollen stroked his second double of the day to put Spartans at second and third. Steve Miller scored Hossler and Mohollen with a double of his own. Patrick Clement drove home Miller with a two out single. The Spartans would get a fourth run on a Lion wild pitch as York trimmed the lead to 11-4.
• Each team got a single run in the eighth inning and Harrisburg closed out the win with a single run in the top of the ninth.
