Box Score YORK, PA – The York College baseball team opened their 2016 home schedule with a 14-2 loss to Rutgers-Camden on a beautiful spring day in York. The Scarlet Raptors improve to 3-0 with the win while the Spartans fall to 2-9 with the setback.
How It Happened:
• Camden opened the scoring with a trio of runs in the top of the second inning. The inning got started with a single and a walk. A throwing error on a sacrifice bunt loaded the bases. Cory Kreamer singled to left, plating two and giving the Raptors the early lead. Jon Theckston then singled to score the third run of the inning for Camden. The Spartans caught a break when Joe Brooks lined into a double play to end the inning, preventing Camden from further damage.
• Camden broke the game wide open in the fifth inning as the Raptors exploded for six runs. Andujar Cedeno blasted a two run bomb to deep center to start the uprising. A pair of walks followed by a Kreamer doubled to center to drive in two. Camden plated two more for the six run inning.
• York avoided the shutout in the sixth. Zach Hossler began the inning with a single to center. Sean Mohollen doubled him home with a rocket off the centerfield wall. Mohollen would then moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a Steve Miller RBI single up the middle.
• Camden scored three more in the seventh and two more in the eighth to provide for the final 14-2 margin. The Raptors hit home runs in both innings to help account for the scoring.
