GLASSBORO, NJ – The York College baseball squad dropped a 10-5 non-conference decision at Rowan University on Monday afternoon in Glassboro, NJ. The Spartans drop to 2-8 overall while the Profs improve to 2-3 for the year.   

How It Happened: 

• The Profs opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as Evan Hughes singled, moved to second on an error and eventually scored on a Matt Jolly RBI single.

• After being set down in order in the first two innings, York rallied for a trio of runs in the top of the third frame. Seth Brosius doubled to lead off the inning. Luke Knott singled to put Spartans at the corners. Collin Crowell singled in Brosius to tie the game at one. Knott stole third and came home on an RBI ground out by Logan Countryman. Sean Mohollen singled home Crowell to give York a 3-1 lead.

• York pushed the lead to 5-3 in the top of the fifth inning. Mohollen had a two-out RBI single and then Steve Miller drew a bases loaded walk for York's second run in the inning. York left the bases loaded as they wouldn't be able to tack onto the lead.

• The Profs cut into the lead in the bottom of the fifth as Jason Clapper and Monny Strickland each had RBI singles in the inning. Rowan got their two runs on four hits.

• Rowan took the lead for good off the Spartan bullpen in the sixth. Spartan starter Randy Frankenfield departed the game with a lead but Rowan got to the York pen for the game-winning rally. The uprising featured a pair of hit batters, a two run double from Bret Phillips, and a two-run double from Clapper as the Profs took a 7-5 lead.

• Rowan added a single run in the seventh and two more the in the eighth before the game was called due to darkness.

Notes: York got five runs on seven hits with three errors while Rowan had 10 runs on 14 hits with one error … The Spartan errors led to a pair of runs being unearned … Randy Frankenfield made his first appearance since February 20 when he threw 5.2 innings against Millsaps … Frankenfield has left with the lead in both of his appearances this season … Frankenfield has 11 strikeouts and four walks in his 11 innings of work for the year … Sean Mohollen is seven for his last 13 with a double, a home run and five RBI.

What's Next: The Spartans make their 2016 home debut on Wednesday afternoon when they host Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference contest. The game against the Scarlet Raptors will be the start of a season-high eight game home stand. First pitch is set for 3:00 pm at Jaquet Field.
