Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

YORK, PA – The York College baseball team split a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader with Wesley College on an overcast Saturday afternoon in York. The Spartans won the opener 14-7 and the Wolverines captured the nightcap 7-1. York is now 4-10 overall and 2-1 in the conference while the Wolverines are now 8-5 overall and also 2-1 in the league.

Game One How It Happened

• The Wolverines got on the board in the first as they got a run on a sacrifice fly from Chris Seibert but it could have been much worse for York. The Wolverines loaded the bases with no outs but starter Joel Kenney was able to limit the damage to just the one run.

• It took York exactly one pitch to tie the game in the bottom of the inning as Zach Hossler blasted a solo home run to deep right, tying the game at one.

• Wesley tallied a trio of runs in the top of the third. The frame began with three straight hits from the Wolverines as Trey Mears had an RBI single to make it 2-1. Seibert made it 3-1 with his second straight sacrifice fly, this one to left. The Wolverines got their third run on a fielder's choice RBI. Kenney got out of the frame with the bases loaded as he got a strikeout and a ground out to end the frame.

• Chris Seibert made it 5-1 as he launched a solo homer to right to lead off the fifth. It was his second home run of the year.

• York mounted their comeback in the sixth inning. The Spartans strung together four straight hits as Seth Brosius, Sean Mohollen, and Christian Bilan all singled to load the bases. Steve Miller then drove in a pair with a double to left center, cutting the Spartan deficit to 5-3. A Patrick Clement ground out scored Bilan as York trailed 5-4. Logan Countryman gave York a 6-5 lead as he jacked a two-run shot to left as York suddenly had the lead. The home run was his second in as many games and his third of the year. Additional hits from Luke Knott and Hossler put runners at first and second and Brosius had his second hit of the inning to score Knott for the Spartans' sixth run of the inning.

• Countryman pushed the lead to 8-5 with an RBI single to right in the bottom of the seventh.

• York put the game away with six more runs. Mohollen had an RBI single followed by a Bilan sacrifice fly. Miller lashed a two-run double down the right field line. Knott closed out the scoring with a two run single to center.

• Wesley got a pair of runs in the top of the ninth. Trey Mears hit a solo homer to left, his first blast of the year.
