Box Score YORK, PA – The York College baseball team got back on the winning side of the ledger with a come-from-behind 13-10 win over Stevenson University in a non-conference contest on a beautiful Thursday afternoon in York. The Spartans improve to 3-9 overall while the Mustangs fall to 4-6.
How It Happened:
• Stevenson jumped all over the Spartans early as they scored three runs in the second and got a Craig Joseph home run in the third to take a 4-0 lead.
• York got a single run back in the bottom of the third as Collin Crowell scored on a Mustang throwing error.
• The Mustangs pushed out to an 8-1 lead with four runs on just two hits in the top of the fourth. Stevenson coaxed out five walks in the inning while they also had a double erased on an appeal. Joseph ripped a bases loaded double to center but York appealed he missed first base and he was called out resulting in a three-run put out to the first baseman.
• The Spartans responded in a big way in the bottom of the fourth as they plated six runs with a pair of big assists from the Stevenson defense as the Mustangs committed two errors allowing five of the six runs to be unearned. York got RBI hits from Logan Countryman, Collin Crowell, Sean Mohollen, and Christian Bilan. Seth Brosius had a sacrifice fly while Zach Hossler drove in a run with a ground out that resulted in an error.
• York took the lead in the bottom of the fifth as they dented the plate four times. Crowell doubled down the left field line to score a run. Hossler then drove in Crowell with a single. Hossler stole second and scored on a Brosius triple to center. Brosius scored on a wild pitch to close out the scoring as York led 10-8. All four runs came with two outs in the inning.
• Stevenson got a run back in the sixth as Kevin Wu tripled and came home on a Kevin Kopas sacrifice fly.
• Countryman pushed the Spartan lead to 13-9 as he drilled a two run shot down the left field line, scoring Steve Miller who walked earlier in the inning.
• The Mustangs got their final run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth to conclude the scoring.
