Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Catholic University Cardinals used a six-run third inning to race past the York College Spartans 8-2 in non-conference action between the two former conference foes. The Cardinals earned their first win as they are now 1-3 while the Spartans have dropped three straight as they are now 1-5.
How It Happened:
• Catholic got out to a very early lead as John Pallandino hit the second pitch of the game out of the park in left for the 1-0 Cardinal lead.
• Catholic had a huge inning in the third as they sent 10 men to the plate as they scored six to take a 7-0 lead. Matt Hsiung homered to open the scoring. Anthony Ferlise ripped a two run double while Paul Burmester also had an RBI double in the frame.
• York got on the board in the fifth as Collin Crowell scored on a Logan Countryman RBI ground out.
• Ferlise capped the Cardinal scoring with Catholic's third home run of the day, a solo shot to left in the eighth inning.
• York got their second run when Countryman scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the eighth.
