Box Score 2 SALISBURY, M.D. – The York College baseball team took for the field for the first time since last Friday and for just the second time since concluding their spring trip on March 4. Unfortunately for the Spartans, they were facing a team that has been on a roll in #5 Salisbury. The Sea Gulls earned a pair of Capital Athletic Conference wins, 7-1 and 7-2, on Saturday in Salisbury, Maryland.
The Sea Gulls are now 10-0 and 6-0 in the league while the Spartans are 4-3 and 1-2 in the CAC.
Spartan pitcher Randy Frankenfield (Blue Bell, Pa. / Wissahickon) and Sea Gull pitcher Brett Collachi started the game out strong on the mound as they blanked the opposing offense in the first.
After another stellar inning for Collachi, the Sea Gulls got on the board in the bottom of the second. Bobby Sanzone led off with a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Alex Lipman. Austin Barefoot walked then Tyler Hrycak reached on a fielder's choice. Another walk, this time to Danny Breen, led to Jake Dmiterchick reaching on a Spartan error which scored Hrycak and Sanzone, giving the Sea Gulls the early 2-0 lead.
Leading off the bottom of the third, Kyle Hayman tripled to right center. Jordan Gowe then doubled to left center, scoring Hayman from third, adding another run for the Sea Gulls.
Another quiet inning for the Spartan offense led to an offensive explosion for the Sea Gulls in the bottom of the fourth. After Hrychak reached on a fielder's choice, Breen singled up the middle. Dmiterchik then singled through the left side, scoring Hrychak from second. A Hayman walk to load the bases led to a three run double off the bat of Gowe to expand the Sea Gulls lead to 7-0.
The Spartans got something going in the top of the fifth as Logan Countryman (Baltimore, Md. / Loch Raven) ripped a double into left center. After Dominic Messina (Marlton, N.J. / Camden Catholic) walked, Collin Crowell (Stewartstown, Pa. / Kennard-Dale) smoked a double down the left field line, scoring Countryman from second. Grasso then scored from third on a single by Tyler Illian, giving the Sea Gulls a 1-0 lead.
Leading off the bottom of the second, Barefoot singled up the middle and advanced to second on another Spartan throwing error. Hrycak grounded out to the shortstop which advanced Barefoot to third. Scott Ardoin then singled on a bunt, scoring Barefoot, giving the Sea Gulls a 2-0 lead.

Countryman singled to third base and advanced to second as Scott Steffy (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown East) grounded out to short. Seth Brosius (Magnolia, Del./Ceasar Rodney) then singled up the middle, scoring Countryman from second.
In the top of the sixth, Sea Gull pitcher Connor Shockley came in to relieve Oster. After getting two outs, Shockley walked two straight Spartans. The Sea Gulls then went to the bullpen yet again, this time Kyle Hamby relieving Shockley. The Spartans tied the game at 2-2 as J.J. Oleniacz (Great Falls, Va. / Langley) reached on a Sea Gull throwing error, which scored Steffy from second.
In the bottom of the fifth Illian walked to open the frame. After Lipman reached on a fielder's choice, Barefoot then singled to left center, advancing Lipman to third but would score on another Spartan error, giving the Sea Gulls the 3-2 lead. One batter later, Hrycak singled through the left side, scoring Barefoot from second expanding the lead in the bottom of the sixth to 4-2.
The Sea Gulls broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh. Dmiterchick tripled to left center and scored as Hayman singled through the right side. Spartan coach Mike Scappa saw enough as Zach Philippi (Levittown, Pa. / Harry S. Truman) came in to relieve starter Joel Kenney (Linthicum, Md. / Mount St. Joseph). After Hayman stole second, Grasso stroked a two run homerun to left field. The three runs added for the Sea Gulls would be the final runs of the game.
