MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The York College
baseball team concluded their four-game trip to Myrtle Beach with
wins over Eastern University 12-3 in 12 innings on Tuesday and 9-4
over Catholic University on Wednesday. The Spartans finished the

The Eagles tied the game in dramatic fashion in the ninth
inning. Spartan reliever Kyle Cook (Pylesville,

uncorking a wild pitch that tied the game. The Eagles looked like
they were going to win the game as the runner from second started
to head to the plate when the throw from catcher Jim Meehan
(Mastic, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor Central) went up the
third base line after getting past Cook. Spartan third sacker
Matt Monti (Easton, Pa./Easton) scooped up the
ball and fired a strike to Cook who was covering the plate. Cook
picked the short hop thrown and put the tag down, preserving the
tie and sending the game to extra innings.
