ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The York College Spartan
baseball team remained red hot as the Spartans swept the St.

Pa./Susquehannock) stroked an RBI single that scored
Kyle Cook (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) with the
game's opening run York increased the lead to 2-0 in the top
of the third courtesy of a Mike Connolly (Selden,
N.Y./Newfield) sacrifice fly.
The Seahawks reached Spartan ace Jason Christenberry
(Yoe, Pa./Dallastown) for single runs in the fourth and
fifth innings to tie the game at two through five complete.
The Seahawks threatened in the sixth as they put two runners on
with two outs. Cook relieved Christenberry and got the Spartans out
of the jam with a strikeout.
The Spartans would get two runners on in the seventh but would
be unable to break the tie. Cook allowed two Seahawks to reach in
the seventh but extricated himself from the jam, giving the Spartan
offense another chance to win the game.
The Green and White took advantage of that opportunity in the
eighth inning as Matt Monti (Easton, Pa./Easton)
stroked an RBI double, scoring CT Stanley (Timonium,
Md./Calvert Hall College) with the game-winning run.
Cook allowed a one-out single in the bottom of the eighth but
the runner never left first as he picked up his second win of the
year with his stellar 2.1 innings of relief work. Cook allowed two
hits with two strikeouts and one walk as he continues to be one of
the best pitchers in the CAC. Christenberry was strong in his 5.2
innings of action as he allowed two runs on seven hits with a
strikeout and three walks as he got a no decision.

hits as he falls to 2-1 with the loss. Iraola struck out six and
walked two in his 7.2 innings of work. Matt Siciliano came on to
record the final out after Monti's game-winning double.
The Spartans got nine hits in the game with all nine coming from
different players. Monti and Rob Klinck (Stanhope,
N.J./Lenape Valley Regional) each had doubles for the
Spartans. Monti, Connolly and Austin each had an RBI while Klinck,
Cook, and Stanley scored York's runs.
Jon Gill, the starting pitcher for the Seahawks in
Friday's game at York, went 3-for-4 with a run scored to lead
St. Mary's. Matt Baden and J.P. Debrowski each had two hits
in the loss. Baden scored a run while Debrowski had an RBI.
In game two, the contest was scoreless through the opening three
innings as both starting pitchers were strong. York finally dented
the plate in the fourth as Monti stroked a two-run single with the
bases loaded, giving York the 2-0 lead.
The Seahawks reached Spartan starter KC Beshore (New
Cumberland, Pa./Red Land) for a single run in the bottom
of the fourth, trimming their deficit in half thanks to a bases
loaded walk. Beshore got out of the inning without any more damage
with a fly out to center.
Senior Ryan Poff (York, Pa./Spring Grove)
pushed the York lead to 4-1 with a two-run double with one out in
the fifth inning.
Senior Jake Hughes (Schwenksville,
Pa./Souderton) relieved Beshore in the fifth and he
cruised through the fifth but got into trouble in the sixth as the
Seahawks got two runs to trim the York lead to 4-3.
The Spartans got some insurance in the seventh with a Stanley
RBI single as he drove in Poff.
Cook came on to pitch the bottom of the seventh and the Spartan
closer set the Seahawks down in order for a one-two-three save. It
was his fourth save of the season.
Beshore earned the win as the freshman improves to 3-0. He
allowed a run on a hit with two walks and a strikeout in his four
innings of work. Hughes allowed two runs on three hits with one
walk in his two innings of action. Cook was perfect in his one
inning with a strikeout.
Barrett Enix suffered the loss as he allowed five runs, four
earned, on 11 hits with two strikeouts and one walk in his 6.1
innings of action. Adam Shenk threw two thirds of an inning and
allowed one hit in his stint.
Poff led the Spartan offense as he was 3-for-4 with two RBI and
two runs scored. Klinck was the other Spartan with multiple hits as
he was 2-for-4 in the win. Monti was 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Bobby Corton led the Seahawks as he was 2-for-3 with two runs
scored. Mark Dattilio had the Seahawks other hit as St.
Mary's was held to just three hits in the contest. Dattilio
also drove in a run for the hosts.

their streak on the line in a key Capital Athletic Conference
