Women’s Wrestling Sweeps Home Tri-Match

YORK, Pa. - The York women's wrestling team scored a pair of wins in a home tri-match against Bethany College and Muhlenberg College on Sunday.

York began the day by winning seven out of 10 bouts, including with bonus points, in a 33-15 victory over Bethany before claiming nine wins, all by bonus, in a 44-4 triumph over Muhlenberg.

How It Happened
In York's first match of the day, the Spartans quickly looked up at a 10-0 deficit as Bethany began the dual with a pair of falls. York responded with a 14-2 win at 117 lbs. by Gisele Ramirez and a comeback 8-7 win by Kallie Bower at 124 lbs. to cut the Bison lead to 12-7 through four bouts.

The Bison extended their lead to 15-8 at the midway point after Mary Ann Dodd scored a 13-5 at 131 lbs., but the Spartans steamrolled their way to the finish line as they went on to win the final five bouts on four falls and a forfeit to run away with the 33-15 victory.

In the Spartans' second match, York rushed out to a 21-4 lead through the first five bouts as Muhlenberg forfeited four of those bouts, but notched a 12-1 technical win at 110 lbs. by Sylvyn Parham.

York rolled down the stretch and out-scored the Mules 23-0 to finish the dual with a fall by Maura White, two technical falls by Ashley Knapp and Kylie Monroe, a fall by Sarah Lynn and finally a win by forfeit for Emma Lavalle.
