YORK, PA – The York College softball squad had a pair of Spartans honored by the Middle Atlantic Conference on Tuesday as the league announced their 2025 softball All-Academic squad.

Gretchen Barstad were recognized for their dual excellence on the field and in the classroom.

The Spring Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes both in the classroom and in athletic competition during the 2025 spring semester. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote on the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a spring semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.

Wade becomes a two-time MAC All-Academic honoree as she concluded her Spartan career as one of the best players in school history. Wade, who was a 2024 NFCA All-American, hit .33 with 18 runs scored nine doubles and three home runs. She drove in 27 runs and had a .505 slugging percentage. She was a three-time MAC All-Commonwealth selection in addition to being the 2024 Player of the Year.

Wade concluded her time in the Green and White as a .331 hitter in 138 games played including 131 starts. She had 67 runs scored, 135 hits, 33 doubles and 20 home runs. She drove in 138 career runs with a .559 slugging percentage. She drew 47 walks and was hit by seven pitches during her career.

Wade graduated with a civil engineering degree in May. She finished the spring semester with a 4.00 GPA while her overall Spartan GPA was 3.89.

Barstad earns her second Academic All-MAC appearance after a banner junior year. Barstad, who was a first-team MAC All-Commonwealth pick for the second straight year, hit .391 with 28 runs scored, nine doubles, three triples and six round trippers. She drove in 26 runs with a 1.129 OPS, a .664 slugging percentage, and a .465 on-base percentage.

Barstad, who was a NFCA All-Region selection, has hit .395 in 108 games including 100 starts. She has 89 runs scored, 118 hits, 28 doubles, six triples, 10 home runs and 63 RBI in 299 at-bats. Barstad has a career .629 slugging percentage, 44 walks drawn and a .476 on-base percentage. She has also notched 25 career stolen bases.

Barstad is an elementary education major finished the spring semester with a GPA of 4.00 while her cumulative York GPA is 3.91.
