YORK, PA – The York College women's golf team closed out a very successful 2024-25 regular season by winning the 2025 Spartan Spring Invitational at Regents Glen Country Club in York.

The Spartans shot a two-day total of 63- to win the tournament by 12 strokes over a strong Alvernia University squad. York shot 315 on Sunday and bested that by ten strokes on Monday as they shot 305. Alvernia shot 320 on Sunday followed by a 312 on Monday.

Gettysburg finished third with a score of 667 followed by Catholic with a two-day total of 672. Hood (724) finished fifth followed by Stevenson (793) in sixth.

York was led by sophomore
Victoria Jolakian as she finished second in the tournament with a score of 155. Jolakian finished two strokes back of tournament medalist McKylie Boreman from Alvernia. Jolakian shot 80 on Sunday and followed with a three-over 75 on Monday. Jolakian shot 37 on the front on Sunday but had a few tough holes on the back as she carded a 43. The sophomore was great on the front on Monday as she was one under at the turn. She shot a 40 on the back for her 75 and her second place finish.

The top-five finish for Jolakian was her third of the season and fifth of her Spartan career.

Sophomore
Lily Davis finished tied for third with Alvernia's Katie Lapinsky as they both shot 157 for the tournament. Davis shot 81 on Sunday and bettered that by five strokes on Monday with a 76. On Sunday, Davis shot 40 on the front and 41 on the back for the 81. In round two, Davis was even on the front nine with a 36 followed by a 40 on the back. The top five finish was the second of Davis' career.

The Spartan tandem of
Tori Blanc and
Grace Strickland tied for fifth for the tournament as they both shot 158. However, the super juniors arrived at their scores in dramatically different ways. Blanc shot 86 on Sunday and then scorched the course for an even-par 72 on Monday. The 72 was the low round of the tournament. Blanc shot 42 on her opening nine on Sunday followed by a 44. On Monday, she was one-under on the front with birdies at one and six. She then fired a 37 on the back with three more birdies to complete her round. The top-five finish was the tenth of Blanc's Spartan career.

Strickland was the round one leader as she carded a 76 on a tough weather day on Sunday. She followed that with an 82 on Monday. On Sunday, Strickland was two-over on the front and two-over on the back for her 76. In the second round, she shot 40 on the front followed by a 42 on the back. Strickland's top-five finish was the tenth in her career and the first of her abbreviated junior campaign.

Freshman
Ava Johnsen was York's fifth starter and she notched a top ten finish as she placed ninth with a score of 161. Johnsen shot 78 on Sunday and then carded an 83 on Monday. On Sunday, Johnsen was one over on her first ninth holes. She was five-over on the back for her 78. In the second round on Monday, Johnsen shot 40 on the front followed by a 43 on the back. The top ten finish is already the third in her seven career tournaments for the Green and White.
York had five other Spartans playing as individuals in the tournament. Junior
Brooke Zajac led the Spartan individuals with a two-day total of 177 as she placed 25
th. Junior
Evelyn Stahl had a good tournament with a score of 191 as she finished 32
nd. Freshman
Samiya Bodalia shot 193 over the two days as she tied for 34
th. Sophomore
Rachel Koengetter finished tied for 37
th with 200.

Senior
Olivia Schenk closed out her career with a 40
th place finish as she played her final tournament as a Spartan.

York will take the next 12 days to prepare for the 2025 Middle Atlantic Conference championships on April 26 and 27 at Golden Oaks Country Club in Fleetwood, PA. The Spartans will square off again against Alvernia as they will head into the championship as the two favorites in the tournament. York had won three straight crowns before the Golden Wolves won the rain-shortened tournament in 2024.
