GRANVILLE, OHIO – The York College women's golf squad closed out their first tournament of the year with a seventh-place finish at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational hosted by Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

The Spartans matched their scoring from Saturday as they finished Sunday with a score of 329, good for a two-day total of 658 in the 13-team field. Randolph won the team title with a two-day score of 599 including a blistering day two score of 293. Denison finished second with a score of 625 followed by DePauw in third with 631. Christopher Newport was fourth at 633 followed by Methodist University with a score of 638. Lynchburg finished sixth, 15 shots in front of York.

York was again led by senior
Grace Strickland as she got off to a good start with an even par 35 on the front. She birdied one and bogeyed three and then notched par on the remaining seven holes of the front. Strickland was six-over on the back as she finished with a six-over-par 78 which left her ninth in the 72 player field. She was one shot out of a tie for fifth and two shots out of a top five finish.

DePauw's Becky Williams cruised to the individual crown with a three-under-par total of 142 as she won by four strokes.

Victoria Jolakian was York's next finisher as she placed 28
th after shooting 80 on Sunday. She concluded the tournament with a two-day total of 163 after carding an 83 on Saturday. Jolakian was five-over on the front on Sunday but settled in for a three-over 40 on the back for her eight-over 80.

Lily Davis was York's third finisher as she placed tied for 43
rd for the weekend. Davis shot an 85 on Sunday and completed her tournament with a score of 172. Sophomore
Ava Johnsen shot 86 on Sunday and concluded the tournament with a tie for 36
th. Johnsen shot a two-day total of 169 for her finish.

Samiya Bodalia was York's fifth tournament participant as she finished 57
th with a tournament score of 181. Bodalia shot a 93 on Sunday after carding an 88 on Saturday.

The Spartans return to action on Monday, September 8 when they head to the Southern Virginia Knights Invitational. The two-day tournament will be held at the Wintergreen Resort in Nellysford, Virginia.
