Spartans Cruise to Commonwealth Win at Alvernia

Box Score READING, Pa. - The eighth-ranked women's lacrosse team scored 19 goals for the second-straight game in a 19-1 victory over Alvernia on the road on Wednesday night.

How It Happened
The Spartans scored 16-straight goals to start the game including 15 in the first half. Juliana Silvernale and Zoe Kluegel each netted a first-half hat trick and each added an assist for a pair of four-point performances. Krista Yarusso also had a productive first half as she handed a trio of assists.

York did a lot of damage from the eight-meter line as they scored on four out of five free-position shots. The Spartans also played locked down defense in the first half as they held the Golden Wolves to just four total shots in the first half with only one on goal.

Mia Martin broke up the Spartan shutout five minutes into the third quarter with her third goal of the season which wound up being the only goal scored by Alvernia on the day.

The Spartans went on to score three more times before the final whistle with Raea Gillis notching her first collegiate goal during that span.

The Spartans return home on Saturday to host Eastern in a Commonwealth clash slated to start at 1 p.m.
