YORK, PA – The York College women's soccer squad placed two players on the Academic All-MAC team as announced by the league office on Friday. Seniors Morgan Joyce and Alyssa Russell were selected among the ten-player team.

The MAC directors of athletic communications nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a fall semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.

Joyce is a psychology major who posted a 4.00 GPA for the semester while she owns an overall GPA of 3.61. Russell is a business analytics major with a 4.00 semester GPA. Russell is one of the top students on the team with a 3.97 overall GPA. Russell is a seven-time member of the Dean's List while Joyce has joined the list on four different semesters.

Joyce and Russell both had outstanding senior years to lead the Spartans to their fourth straight MAC Commonwealth Championship match as York finished 12-4-5 for the year.

Joyce was the 2024 Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year in addition to being a first-team MAC All-Commonwealth pick. Joyce was a second team United Soccer Coaches second-team All-Region V honoree. Joyce started all 21 games for the Spartans as she notched two goals and two assists for six points from her defensive position. Both of Joyce's goals were important as they were both game-winners for the Green and White. Joyce started all 82 games of her Spartan career as she finished with 18 points on seven goals and four assists as a central defender.

Russell finished her Spartan career as a two-time first-team MAC All-Commonwealth selection. She was also a third-team All-Region V honoree this fall. She was a force as a holding midfielder as she played in and started 19 games for the Green and White. Russell recorded 10 points on three goals and four assists including two game-winning goals for York. Russell concluded her career with 31 points on 11 goals and nine assists in 78 games.
