Spartan Women’s Soccer Dominates at McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The York women's soccer team posted their third-straight shutout in a one-sided 2-0 triumph at McDaniel on Saturday.

Carissa Baugus (10') and Meg Kalthof (55') netted a goal in each half for the Spartans while the York defense held the Green Terror, who are receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, to a season-low three shots while allowing just one shot on goal.

Team Records
York 3-1-0
(RV) McDaniel 1-1-1

How It Happened
The Spartans jumped on the Terror early and produced two corners in the first seven minutes of play. York's early pressure paid off in the form of a goal by Carissa Baugus in the 10th minute. Anna Sis played a ball back up the middle to Baugus who unleashed a shot from nearly 25 yards out that sailed perfectly into the upper right corner of the net for her first goal of the season.

York put two more shots on target the rest of the first half which forced a pair of saves by Mack Langlo. The Spartans also out-gained McDaniel, 6-2, in corner kick opportunities throughout the half.

The Spartans began the second half just like they did first, scoring a goal 10 minutes into play. Sis again picked up the assist as this time she found Meg Kalthof at the top of the box who buried a shot into the lower left corner for team-leading third goal of the season.

York stifled the Terror throughout the second half as they owned a 9-1 margin in total shots and did not allow a single shot on target by the home squad.
