Women’s Wrestling Finishes Fourth at New Standard Invitational

YORK, Pa. - The York women's wrestling team finished fourth out of 14 teams with nine place winners at the New Standard Invitational hosted by York College on Saturday.

Western New England won the team title for the second-straight year as they compiled 171 points. Ursinus finished second with 133 points, followed by Mount Union (118), York (101) and No. 13 Eastern (90.5) in the top-five. The Spartans have finished inside the top-five twice in the three-year history of the women's tournament.

Maura White led the way for York with a second-place finish at 138 lbs. White went 4-1 on the day with two falls and a technical fall. She posted an upset win over No. 10 Tanya Teveva (WNE) in the semifinals before falling 10-2 to No. 6 Jacklyn Dehney (NEC) in the finals.

Peyton Fries nabbed third at 207 lbs. after going 4-1 with two falls and a technical fall.

Two Spartans captured fourth with Daisey Hawkins at 110 lbs. and Gisele Ramirez at 117 lbs. Hawkins went 3-2 on the day with two falls and a technical fall, while Ramirez also went 3-2 with two falls and a technical fall.

Emma Lavalle earned a fifth-place finish at 207 lbs. with a record of 4-2 on the day with three falls.

Four Spartans claimed sixth-place finishes and the final spots on the podium which included Mackenzie Smith (103 lbs.), Grace Woodring (117 lbs.), Kallie Bower (124 lbs.) and Kylie Monroe (160 lbs.).

The Spartans will return to the mats at the Hiram Terrier Round Robin on December 14.
