LEBANON, PA – The York College women's golf squad opened the spring portion of their 2023-24 schedule in impressive fashion on a chilly Monday as they won the Lebanon Valley Invitational at the Lebanon Country Club.
The Spartans finished with a team score of 336, cruising to the team championship by 15 strokes over Division II Millersville. Franklin & Marshall placed third at 392 followed by Hood (398) and Lock Haven (412) in the top five team scores. There were 13 full teams and 69 golfers in the field.
Not only did the Spartan win the team title but they also held down the top three individual spots in the tournament.
First year Spartan
Lily Davis earned her first collegiate win as she fired a ten-over 82 to edge fellow first year Spartan
Victoria Jolakian who carded an 83. The 82 tied a career best for Davis, matching her second round score at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational on September 3. Jolakian's score was one stroke over her career best which has happened three times in her young career.
Sophomore
Tori Blanc finished third as she finished with an 85, three strokes back of Davis. Fellow sophomore
Grace Strickland tied for fourth as she shot 86. Sophomore
Jessica Shay rounded out the Spartan starting lineup with a 21
st place finish as she shot 93.
The Spartans had three players competing as individuals on the day.
Rachel Koengetter and
Evelyn Stahl each shot 93 to tie with Shay for 17
th place.
Vivian D'Orazi shot 96 to finish tied for 23
rd. The 93 for Koengetter set a new career best for the first-year Spartan.
The Spartans head to The Ruckus tournament hosted by Drew University at the Williamsburg National Golf Club in Williamsburg, VA. The two-day tournament kicks off on Saturday at noon.
