Women’s Golf Finishes Fourth in Spring Opener

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The York College women's golf team opened the spring season finishing fourth out of 11 teams at the Pennsylvania Classic on Sunday hosted by Penn State Altoona at the Penn State White Course.

The Spartans compiled a two-round score of 675 (345 + 330) and their round two score of 330 tied for the lowest round of the tournament. Washington and Jefferson won the team title with a score of 661, followed by Susquehanna (668), Westminster (673), York (675) and Grove City (692) in the top-five.

Sophomore Ava Johnsen led York as she finished tied for third overall with a 36-hole score of 155 (+11). She opened the tournament with an 80 (+8) on Saturday and picked up five strokes on Sunday with a 75 (+3). The sophomore carded four total birdies including the sixth hole twice.

Junior Lily Davis finished ninth overall and second in the Spartan lineup with a total score of 167 (+23). She posted an 86 (+14) on round one and an 81 (+9) at the conclusion of round two while scoring par on 10 holes on Sunday.

Senior Vivian D'Orazi and sophomore Samiya Bodalia tied for 20th overall with matching 36-hole scores of 178 (+34). D'Orazi shot 90 and an 88 with three total birdies for the weekend. Bodalia posted scores of 92 and 86 with a pair of birdies on her final three holes.

Junior Rachel Koengetter rounded out the Spartan lineup in 24th-place. She posted a total score of 181 (+37) with a round one score of 89 and round two score of 92.

The Spartans return to competition on Monday, April 6 at the Stevenson Spring Invitational played at Piney Branch Golf Club.
