Spartan Women Open Campaign at F&M Diplomat Open

York recorded 13 top ten finishes on Friday in Lancaster

LANCASTER, PA – The York College women's track and field squad opened their 2024-25 indoor schedule with a trip to Franklin & Marshall College to participate in the Diplomat Open on Friday in Lancaster.
The Spartans got a win from sophomore Angela Nuse as she was victorious in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.04. That time is a new PR for the Spartan sophomore.
Junior Claudia Gross and sophomore Hailey Sherwood each earned second place finishes for the Spartans. Gross was second in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.92 while Sherwood was second in the weight throw with a best distance of 14.87 meters. The time for Gross set a new PR, besting her previous mark by .2 seconds. Sherwood's mark also set a new PR as she bettered her old standard by over a meter.
Junior Sofia Harnois earned a fourth-place finish in the weight throw with a best mark of 13.40 meters. Harnois also recorded a ninth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 10.33 meters. Freshman Alita Paragon made her collegiate debut a successful one as she placed fifth in the pole vault with a best height of 2.90 meters. Senior Payton Mann began her campaign with a fifth-place finish in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:04.10.
Senior Zoe Myers placed sixth in the weight throw with a best distance of 12.55. Fellow senior Isabella Ewing recorded a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 8.74 meters. Junior Keziah Boyce recorded a pair of top eight finishes as she was seventh in the 60 meters and eighth in the 200 meter run.
Junior Kaitlin King and freshman Alexis Seymour each posted tenth place finishes for the Spartans. King registered a best throw of 11.44 meters in the weight throw while Seymour earned a time of 2:37.34 in the 800. 
York finished with 13 top ten finishes for the invite.

The Spartans are now off until Sunday, January 12 when they head to Winchester, Virginia to compete in the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational hosted by Shenandoah University.
