Women’s Wrestling Finishes 2-1 at Ursinus Duals

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The York women's wrestling team went 2-1 in a trio of dual matches on Sunday at the Ursinus Duals.

The Spartans began the day with a 34-8 victory over Marymount University, followed by a 24-20 win against D'Youville University, and finished the day with a 28-15 loss to Ursinus College

Faith Warner (109 lbs.), Maura White (143 lbs.) and Allison Brandt (191 lbs.) all went 3-0 on the day. Brandt accounted for the most team points with 15 and led the squad with a pair of pins on the day.

How It Happened
  • The Spartans opened the day with a 34-8 victory over Marymount with the Saints forfeiting six of nine weight classes. Marymount made the most of their opportunities by winning two of their three head-to-head matches and Faith Warner won the other head-to-head bout for York by a score of 10-0.
  • York edged out a 24-20 victory over D'Youville in the Green and White's second dual of the day. Despite surrendering three forfeits, D'Youville put together a strong performance to make things interesting with three bonus-point wins in addition to receiving a forfeit from the Spartans. Allison Brandt clinched the dual win for York with her fall at 191 lbs. as the Spartans trailed by one heading into her bout.
  • The Spartans ended the day with a 28-15 loss to the host Bears with York forfeiting 116 lbs. and 170 lbs. York maximized its three victories as Faith Warner (109 lbs.), Maura White (143 lbs. and Brandt (191 lbs.) all won by fall.
