Women’s Wrestling Takes Second at New Standard Invitational

Ierley and White each capture individual titles

YORK, Pa. - The Spartan women's wrestling team finished second out of nine teams with a pair of first-place finishers at the New Standard Invitational on Saturday hosted by York.

Delaware Valley edged York for the team title as the Aggies out-scored the Spartans 34-31 in total team points. Ursinus (29 points) came in third, while Cedar Crest (21) and New England College (21) tied for fourth.

Naylee Ierley and Maura White each claimed the top spot in their respective weight classes. Ierley went 3-0 in the round robin competition at 136 lbs. and dominated her competition. The freshman surrendered just two points to her opponents while racking up 32 total points on the day in three technical falls. White notched a pair of falls as she marched her way through the 143-pound bracket and avenged a loss to Oilvia Kinder (Del Val) from earlier this season with a 13-9 victory over the Aggie in the semifinals on Saturday.

Faith Warner earned a second-place finish as she went 2-1 with a pair of falls and out-scored her opponents 12-2 in the 109-pound round robin competition.

Ava Weibley (116 lbs.) and Megan Knapp (123 lbs.) each claimed third in their respective weight classes. Katelyn Coldren notched a pair of technical falls to claim fourth at 155 lbs., while Emma Lavalle took fourth at 191 lbs. with a fall on the day. Rebekah Patzke went 3-2 on the day with two falls as she took fifth at 155 lbs. Allison Brandt claimed fifth at 191 lbs. with a win via fall.

The Spartans return to the mats on December 15 when they travel to the Wasp Open hosted by Emory and Henry.
