Women’s Wrestling Finishes Fall Semester at Wasps Open

EMORY, Va. - The Spartan women's wrestling team competed at the Wasps Open hosted by Emory & Henry College on Friday.

The tournament field featured some of the nation's top competition as No. 3 King, No. 13 Presbyterian and No. 20 Emmanuel were all in attendance.

Megan Knapp (123 lbs.) and Maura White (143 lbs.) led the way for York as they each nabbed fourth-place finishes in their respective weight classes. Both wrestlers posted records of 1-2 with a fall a piece on the day.

Naylee Ierley (136 lbs.), Rebekah Patzke (143  lbs.) and Allison Brandt (191 lbs.) all earned fifth-place finishes. Ierley went 2-3 with a technical fall and a decision in the 136-pound round robin tournament. Patzke won her last two matches via fall to finish 2-1 on the day in the 143-pound bracket. Brandt also won her last two matches by fall to finish the day 2-1 in the 191-pound bracket.

Emma Lavalle took sixth in the 191-pound bracket as she posted a record of 1-2 with a fall. Faith Warner took seventh in the 109-pound round robin tournament with a decision and a technical fall as she finished 2-2 on the day. Ava Weibley finished eighth in the 116-pound bracket with a record of 0-5 on the day.

The Spartans return to the mats on January 7 at the Manganaro Duals hosted by Ursinus.
