HAVRE DE GRACE, MD – The York College women's golf squad captured their first tournament championship of the season as they won the seven team Arcadia Fall Invitational on Tuesday. The Spartans made a 13-shot improvement over Monday's first round as they finished with a team total of 637.
The Spartans beat Alvernia by six strokes to earn the title. Kutztown finished third at 702 followed by Jefferson (718) in fourth and Hood (762) rounding out the top five.
Sophomore
Grace Strickland was York's top finisher for the tournament as she placed fifth with a two day total of 166. Strickland fired an eight-over 80 in round two as she was seven strokes behind tournament champion Katie Lapinskuy from Alvernia. Strickland shot a 38 on the front with a trio of birdies. She carded a 42 on the back for her 80.
Sophomore
Jessica Shay and
Tori Blanc tied for sixth behind Strickland. Shay shot a round two 84 for a tournament total of 167. Blanc shot an 82 on Tuesday to finish with her two-day total of 167. Shay shot 43 on the front and 41 on the back. Blanc fired a four-over 40 on the front and 42 on the back for her 82.
Freshman
Lily Davis rounded out the Spartan scorers on Tuesday as she shot an 84 in round two. Davis finished eighth in the tournament with a total score of 173. Davis shot 40 on the front and 44 on the back for her 84.
Freshman
Victoria Jolakian was York's fifth tournament participant and she shot a 91 on Tuesday to conclude the tournament with a score of 183.
The Spartans wrap up their fall season this weekend as the host the Spartan Fall Invitational at Royal Manchester in Manchester, PA. The two day tournament kicks off Saturday morning and concludes with Sunday's second round.
