HAVRE DE GRACE, MD – The York College women's golf squad sits in first of seven teams after day one of the Arcadia University Fall Invitational at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre De Grace, Maryland.
The Spartans will carry a three-stroke lead into Tuesday's second round. York shot a total of 343 on Monday while Alvernia is in second at 346. Kutztown and Jefferson are tied for third at 363 while Hood is fifth at 381.
Sophomore
Jessica Shay led the way for the Spartans as she shot an 83. Shay sits in third place, one stroke out of second and two behind tournament leader Cassidy Miksich of Alvernia. Shay shot a six-over 42 on the front nine followed by a five-over 41 on the back.
Sophomore
Tori Blanc enters round two tied for fifth as she shot an 85 in her opening round. Blanc shot 42 on the front and 43 on the back. Fellow sophomore
Grace Strickland is tied for seventh after she shot an 86. Strickland was good on the front with a 39 including a birdie on nine. She had a tough back nine as she shot 47 for her 86.
Freshman
Lily Davis was York's fourth scorer on Monday as she shot 89 to tie her for ninth. Davis carded a 43 on the front followed by a 46 on the back. Fellow freshman
Victoria Jolakian was York's fifth tournament participant and she is tied for 14
th after shooting an opening round 92.
The Spartans will try to capture the tournament title on Tuesday afternoon. Davis leads off the Spartan squad as she tees off at noon. She will be followed by Jolakian (12:12), Shay (12:24), Strickland (12:36) and Blanc (12:48).
