Box Score SALEM, VA – The York College women's lacrosse team scored 11 straight goals in the second half to turn a first half deficit into a 15-10 non-conference win at Roanoke on Sunday afternoon in Salem, Virginia.
The Spartans trailed 7-1 with 5:59 left in the second quarter but outscored their hosts 14-3 over the final 34:01 of the game to secure their third win of the year.

How It Happened
• The Maroons jumped on the Spartans early as Lilly Blair notched an unassisted goal a mere 48 seconds into the game. That would be the score for the next six minutes until Riley Chase recorded an unassisted goal at the 8:21 mark to put the Maroons up 2-0. Blair found Emerson Foster with a pass to increase the Roanoke lead to 3-0 a few minutes later.
• York finally got on the board with just under three minutes left in the opening quarter as
Chloe MacDonald found the back of the net with an unassisted goal with 2:57 left in the first. Roanoke's Maddie Stopkiski closed out the first quarter scoring with another unassisted goal with just 1:14 left in the period.
• The Maroons out shot York 6-5 in the opening 15 minutes of play. York was 0-for-3 in free position shots as Roanoke goalie Kyleigh Chickering made three first period saves. York committed six first period turnovers.
• Roanoke kept rolling to start the second with three straight goals to push out to a commanding 7-1 lead with 5:59 remaining in the second quarter. York responded with two goals just 18 seconds apart as
Tiffany Lee recorded her first goal of the day off a pass from MacDonald. The Spartans won the ensuing draw and
Kiersten Blanchard scored, trimming York's deficit to 7-3 with 3:59 left in the half.
• Roanoke out shot York 14-10 in the first half including 11-7 in shots on goal. The Spartans also committed 12 first half turnovers.
• The Maroons opened the second half with a goal from Tiernan Connor to push their lead to 8-3 a mere 1:02 into the half. York then ripped off four straight goals over the remainder of the third quarter, cutting their deficit to one heading to the fourth. MacDonald started the run with a goal at the 11:41 mark. The Spartans then notched a pair of man-up goals from
Madison Kurland and
Logan Ward to make it 8-6. Lee then notched her second goal of the game off a pretty feed from
Celly Arthur for York's seventh goal of the game.
• The Green and White carried their third quarter momentum into the fourth. MacDonald notched her third goal of the game off another Arthur pass to tie the game at eight just 48 seconds into the fourth period. York took their first lead of the game as Arthur scored after a great dodge to put York up 9-8 with 13:33 left in the game.
• The Spartans kept rolling in the fourth as goals from
Jenna Cholowinski and two goals from both Blanchard and Kurland pushed the lead to 14-8 as the Spartan run reached 11. The Maroons halted the run with a Lilly Blair tally with 2:19 left in regulation. Roanoke won the following draw and got a Riley Chase goal just over 30 seconds later to cut York's lead to 14-10.
• Lee notched her third goal of the game with 15 seconds left to close out the scoring as York outscored Roanoke 12-3 in the second half.
