Box Score 2 YORK, PA – The York College Spartan softball squad split their two MAC Commonwealth conference games at Stevenson University on Friday. The Spartans won game one 8-0 in six innings while the Mustangs bounced back and secured the split with a 9-3 win in the nightcap.
The Spartans are now 8-2 overall and 8-2 in the Commonwealth. The Mustangs improve to 11-5 overall and 7-3 in the MAC.

How It Happened:
• The Spartans got on the board in the first as Elle Meyer opened the game with a single to right. She stole second, then third and proceeded home when Mustang catcher Alexandra Digrande's throw to third went wayward. Alyssa Harhigh then ripped a one-out single to left and then stole second. Daphney Adams plated Harhigh with an RBI double to left as York led 2-0 after half an inning of play.
• The Mustangs threatened in the bottom of the second as they loaded the bases with a walk and two hits but Spartan starter Taylor Lindsay got a fielder's choice to third to end the threat. The Mustangs had another threat in the third as they had runners at second and third with one out. Lindsay got a strikeout and a foul out to Adams behind the plate to squelch the rally.
• The Spartans took advantage of some shaky Mustang defense in the fifth as the Green and White plated three runs on two hits and a trio of Mustang errors.
• York closed out the game one win in the sixth with three more runs. The rally started with two outs as Meyer singled to short. She stole second and Shyla Pastore drew a walk. Harhigh then singled to left, scoring Meyer to make it 6-0. After a pitching change, Adams singled, scoring Pastore and moving Harhigh to third. Harhigh came around to score a few pitches later on a wild pitch, giving York the 8-0 lead.

Junior Taylor Lindsay tossed her third complete game shutout of the year as she scattered five singles and struck out six … Lindsay did tie a season-high with four walks in the shutout … Elle Meyer and Alyssa Harhigh paced the offense with three hits each ... Meyer also scored two runs and stole three bases … Harhigh added three runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base … sophomore catcher Daphney Adams went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored, a double and two stolen bases.

How It Happened:
• The Spartans drew first blood again in game two with a two-run uprising in the third inning. Elle Meyer reached on an error with one out. She moved to second on a Shyla Pastore single to right. Alyssa Harhigh then boomed a double to left field, scoring Meyer and Pastore for the 2-0 Spartan lead.
• The Mustangs cut the Spartan lead in half with a run in the bottom of the third courtesy of a Megan Hamp singled to right to score Jordan Fangman with the Mustangs first run of the day. The Spartans were able to throw Morghan Fulton out at the plate on the play to maintain their one run lead.
• The Mustangs blew the game open in the bottom of the fourth with eight runs on seven hits. The Mustangs tied the game on a squeeze with no outs in the frame. Fulton then singled to drive home the go ahead run. Kat Perea made it 5-2 with a two-run single to left. After Stevenson reloaded the bases, Marissa Heuer had an RBI ground out. Perea scored on a passed ball and Hamp would score on another passed ball as the lead grew to 8-2. The scoring in the inning ended with a Fangman RBI single as Stevenson led 9-2 after four innings of play.
• York closed out the scoring in the top of the seventh as Alyssa Harhigh tripled and scored on a Daphney Adams ground ball to third.

Junior shortstop Alyssa Harhigh had a big day at the plate as she was 3-for-3 with two RBI, a run scored, a double and a triple … junior Natalie Decena went 2-for-3 as the other Spartan with multiple hits in the game.

With the split, the Spartans continue to lead the series, 33-5 all-time … the Spartans allowed a season-high eight runs in the fourth inning … the Spartans stole a season-high six bases in the game one win … York has notched a pair of two 8-0 wins in each of their last two series … York tied a season-high with 10 hits in game one … the nine runs allowed in game two are one less than the Spartans had allowed coming into the game … York had not allowed eight runs in a game all year … the previous high in runs allowed was three in the March 21 game two win over Messiah (6-3) … the Spartans walked ten in the game two loss and they had walked just 14 in their previous 60 innings of work … York has outscored their opponents in every inning but the fourth as they have allowed eight runs while scoring one … the Spartans have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 42-10 in all other innings … Alyssa Harhigh has raised her average to .531 with 10 runs scored, 11 RBI, six doubles and a pair of triples … junior Taylor Lindsay lowered her ERA to 0.37 with her game one shutout … York is now 15-for-17 in stolen bases for the year.
