Errors: York 0, Widener 3

2B: York 1, Widener 1

3B: York 1, Widener 0

How It Happened:

• The Spartans got rolling early after being shut out on Saturday as Emily Netterville hit a rocket down the right field line to score Shyla Pastore and Daphney Adams who both singled earlier in the inning, putting York up 2-0 through one inning.

• York got an RBI single in the third from Alyssa Harhigh, pushing the Spartan lead to 3-0.

• The Pride got a lead-off double in the top of the fourth as Lindsey Cooper ripped a shot to left center. Spartan starter Taylor Lindsay got a line out and a ground out for two outs before walking Hope Dimario. Lindsay then got a great play in foul territory from Elle Meyer at third base to end the inning.

• York tacked on another run in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a Taylor Coon RBI single up the middle as the Spartan lead grew to 4-0.

• The Spartans ended the game early in the fifth as York loaded the bases with no outs. Lindsay drove home a pair with a sharp single up the middle. Natalie Decena made it 7-0 with an RBI single before a Widener error allowed the eighth run of the game to score.

Spartan Leaders

Junior Taylor Lindsay was brilliant as the Spartans starting pitcher tossed a complete game shutout as she scattered four hits with three strikeouts and a walk as she improves to 4-0 … Lindsay also went 1-for-1 at the plate with a big two-run single … junior Alyssa Harhigh continues to rake as she was 2-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI and a double … junior Emily Netterville got York started with a big two-run triple as she was 1-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored … the triple was the first of Netterville's career … Natalie Decena and Taylor Coon each went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Game Two

Hits: York 5, Widener 5

Errors: York 1, Widener 3

2B: York 1, Widener 1

3B: York 0, Widener 0

HR: York 0, Widener 0

LOB: York 4, Widener 6

WP: Shyla Pastore (3-1) LP: Kait Jaworski (1-6)

How It Happened:

• The Spartans struck early again as they capitalized on a Widener error. Elle Meyer singled to open the bottom of the first. She stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a dropped pop up to put York up 1-0.

• The Pride tied the game at one in the top of the third. Widener got a Lindsey Cooper infield RBI single. It could have been a bigger inning for the Pride but the Spartans foiled a squeeze, cutting down the run at a plate.

• York answered the Pride with a three-run bottom of the third. Alyssa Harhigh started the scoring with an RBI double to left center. She would come around to score along with Shyla Pastore on a booming Daphney Adams double to left center.

• That would be more than enough for Pastore as she cruised through the final four innings, allowing one double in the fourth and a walk in the seventh.

Spartan Leaders

Senior Shyla Pastore picked up the win with a complete game as she allowed one unearned run on five hits with eight strikeouts and one walk … Pastore improves to 3-1 overall while she also went 1-for-3 with a run scored at the dish … the eight strikeouts sets a new career high for Pastore … Elle Meyer went 2-for-3 with two runs scored at the top of the Spartan order … Daphney Adams went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Notes

The Spartans lead the all-time series with the Pride 5-2 as they captured three of four in the series … York had a season-high eight RBI in the game-one victory … game one was the Spartans' second shutout of the year … York outscored Widener 16-3 in the series … the Spartan pitching staff walked just two in twin bill while they struck out 11.
