HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Spartans found their offense early and often, putting runs on the board in each of the first three innings. Ellie Denlinger got things started for York with an RBI-single to center in the first inning as Shyla Pastore came in to score.

• Pastore did more damage at the plate in the second inning as she poked a two-run single up the middle. Pastore came in to score later in the inning on a passed ball as the Spartans quickly opened up a 3-0 lead.

• Pastore came through again in the third inning with another two-run single as Taylor Coon and Natalie Decena came around to score. Alyssa Harhigh followed Pastore with a walk to load the bases and Hannah Vogt drew another walk to bring in Elle Meyer as the Spartans took a commanding 7-0 lead after three innings of play.

• While the offense piled up the runs, Samantha Kiser produced an equally as effective performance in the circle as she tossed a one-hitter through four-straight shutout innings.

• The Mountaineers ended the shutout with two runs on three hits in the fifth. York got one of the runs back on a Decena RBI-single in the sixth as Pastore tossed the final 2.1 innings in relief to seal the win.

Harhigh and Vogt once again produced at the plate as Harhigh drove in Meyer with a triple and Vogt brought Harhigh home with a sacrifice fly to center.
