HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Spartans broke the scoreless in the top of the third as Hannah Vogt doubled to right center with the bases loaded. Natalie Decena scored from third, but the Dutchmen limited the damage as they threw out Elle Meyer at the plate as she attempted to score from second.
• York tacked on another run in the fourth on an RBI-single up the middle by Meyer. The Spartans hit into a double play earlier in the inning, but a Taylor Coon double and an LVC fielding error set the table for Meyer who capitalized on the opportunity.
• Ginger Lewis tossed five-straight shutout innings, racking up five strikeouts and allowed just one runner to reach scoring position. LVC finally broke Lewis' shutout streak in the sixth on a two-out RBI-double to right center. The Dutchmen put their lead-off batter on in the bottom of the seventh, but Lewis bared down and retired the next three batters to leave the seal the game one win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Spartans jumped out to an early lead the second time on the day, this time by way of the long ball as Emily Netterville poked a two-run homer to left.
• LVC got the two runs back in the third on two-out, two-run double after a Spartan fielding error helped extend the inning for the Dutchmen.
• After hanging a pair of runs on the board in the second, York's offense was held off the board for the next five-straight innings, despite having runners in scoring position in the third, fourth and fifth innings. LVC took advantage of the Spartan scoring drought and edged ahead with a run in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead heading into the final inning.
• Down a run entering the final inning, York rose to the challenge and tied the game heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Spartans started to wear down Sarah Musselman as they worked two walks to load the bases. Daphney Adams came through with a single to the left side to bring Shyla Pastore, but Musselman managed to retire the next two batters to work out of the bases-loaded jam.
• The Spartans found themselves in a jam of their own in the bottom of the seventh after Ginger Lewis gave up a double and a single with one out, she intentionally walked the next batter to load the bases. Lewis showed great poise as she retired the next two batters, including an inning-ending strikeout as the game moved to extra innings.
• After forcing the game into extra frames, the Spartans ran out of steam in the international tiebreaker as they three-up, three-down in the top of the eighth. LVC used a sacrifice bunt to move their runner to third and then brought the run in on a walk-off sacrifice fly to end the game.
NOTES
Emily Netterville hit her first-career home run and recorded her first-career RBI in process to give York the early lead in game two … Ginger Lewis moves into a tie for second place in program history in career wins (43) and complete games (50), while she is 16 strikeouts shy of tying the program record for career strikeouts.
