How It Happened
• The entire game was a pitcher's duel, but the scoreless tie was broken by the Spartans in the top half of the third. After a pair of strikeouts to start the inning, Shyla Pastore got on the bases with an infield single and would come in to score on a double to left field off the bat of Alyssa Harhigh to give York the early 1-0 lead.
• The Spartans would avoid danger three times as the left the Lions stranding a pair of runners in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to keep the 1-0 advantage.
• Headed to the bottom of the seventh the Spartans still led 1-0, Ginger Lewis came in to close the door and struck out the side to earn the save and preserve the Spartans' first CAC win this season.

How It Happened
• York struck in the second inning after a lead-off single by Mia Ruffalo who would then be driven in on the next batter when Taylor Lindsay doubled to left as York grabbed the early 1-0 lead.
• After an Elle Meyer lead-off single in the top of the third, Ruffalo would blast her first homerun of the day to left to push the Spartan lead to 3-0. The Spartans would add another run in the top of the fourth taking advantage of a Natalie Decena triple and then a Lion error as York led 4-0 after four innings of play.
• The Spartans continued to pound the baseball in the top of the fifth as Ruffalo and Lindsay hit back-to-back jacks and now led 6-0.
• The Spartans would officially put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh with an RBI-single by Lindsay and then a two-run homer by Joanna Marmo. Ginger Lewis would strike out the side in the bottom half to finish the complete-game shutout as York won game two 9-0.
SPARTAN NOTES:
The Spartans are now 12-1 all-time against the Lions … the Spartans have now won nine straight against the Lions in the series … the four homeruns are tied for the second most in a single game this season and is the fourth time York has had multiple homeruns in a game this year … the Spartans are second in the conference with 24 homeruns behind Christopher Newport who has 34 … with Natalie Decena's two stolen bases, York now leads the CAC with 45 stolen bases as a team … Mia Ruffalo had her second multi-homer game on the season and now sits tied for third in the CAC with six longballs on the year … the 15 strikeouts for the Spartans in game one was the most times York has struck out this year … the 12 hits snapped an eight-game streak where York was held to single-digit hits … Joanna Marmo blasted her first homer on the year in the game two win … Ginger Lewis picked up her first save on the year as well as tied a season-best 10 strikeouts in the win … Lewis lowered her ERA to 1.27 which is now the best mark in the CAC … York is now 5-3 at home on the year.
