How It Happened
• The Spartans scored first with a run in the top of the third inning. Shyla Pastore would reach first on an infield single and would come around to score on an Elle Meyer triple to left field. York would add another run in the fourth inning when Alyssa Harhigh scored on a single up the middle by Taylor Lindsay as the Spartans led 2-0 after four innings.
• The Knights would score two runs on just one hit in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game. Tara Hilton and Sydney Dolan would score on a Spartan error to tie the game up 2-2 headed to the final frame.
• The Spartans would go down in order in the top of the seventh. Southern Virginia led off the seventh with a single and a stolen base by Matea Manuleleua to get into scoring position. With two outs in the inning, Hilton would single to right field to score Manuleleua for the walk-off victory in game one of the tournament for the Knights over the Spartans 3-2.

How It Happened
• The Spartans would pick up three runs on five hits in the bottom of the first inning to grab the early lead. Two runs would come in to score on Taylor Lindsay's single to left field followed by an RBI-single by Julie Van O'Linda to give York the early 3-0 lead.
• The Eagles would get one run back in the top of the second without recording a hit on three walks and a Spartan error capped by a bases-loaded walk to Megan Hibbs. York would answer in the bottom half of the inning with two more runs. Lindsay would single to bring in Elle Meyer to start the scoring followed by a sacrifice fly by Joanna Marmo as the Spartans led 5-1 after just two innings.
• York would add to their lead with an RBI-single by Shyla Pastore in the third inning and pushed their lead out to five. Hannah Bruns would single in the top of the fourth to bring the Eagle deficit back to four but a lead-off home run by Alyssa Harhigh in the bottom half of the inning would give the Spartans a 7-2 advantage after four innings.
• The Eagles would get one run back in the seventh but Ginger Lewis would not allow the Eagles to get any closer as the Spartans knocked off the top-seeded Eagles 7-3.
SPARTAN NOTES:
The Spartans are now 11-2 all-time against the Knights and are 38-53 against the Eagles … the Spartans snapped a season-long four-game losing streak with the win over the Eagles … the 13 hits were tied for the second-most in a game this year and just the second time in 12 games York recorded ten or more hits … York hit their first home run in six games in game two … the Spartans are now 14-7 when they hit at least one homer in a game … York is now 9-11 in games when they commit two or more errors … Alyssa Harhigh launched her 13th home run on the season and is now tied for fifth in school history for career home runs … Taylor Lindsay joined Harhigh as the only Spartans with 30 or more RBIs as Lindsay now has 33 on the season … Ginger Lewis tossed her 16th complete game on the year while also surpassing 400 career strikeouts in her two games today … she is now tied for third-most in career wins in program history with 39 and third-most career complete games with 48.
