Box Score 2 CLERMONT, FL – The York College softball team hit their way to a sweep of their two games on Wednesday morning in Clermont, Florida.
The Spartans used a big seventh inning to seal the 7-3 win over Rose-Hulman in the opener and followed that with a four-run fourth in their 5-1 win over Alverno in game two.

How It Happened
• Rose-Hulman jumped on top of the Spartans with a three run third inning. Jenny Miller ripped a two run single to left to start the scoring. Maddie Struble then scored miller with an RBI single as the Engineers took the early 3-0 lead.
• York wasted zero time in answering as they put up a three spot of their own in the top of the fourth inning. Savannah Galati singled home Haley Hirn for York's first run. Joanna Marmo then tied the game with a two run single to center, tying the game for the Spartans.
• York took the lead in the top of the fifth courtesy of a Hirn RBI single to center.
• York got a trio of big insurance runs in the seventh inning to salt away the victory.

How It Happened
• York opened the scoring in the bottom of the second as Haley Hirn blasted a solo home run to left, giving York the early advantage.
• The Spartans plated four runs in the bottom of the third to seize control of the game. Eryn Bailey stroked a double to score Savannah Zittle with York's second run. Madison Bowen eventually scored Bailey with an RBI single. Freshman Ashley Meekins removed all doubt as she blasted a two run shot to center, giving York the 5-0 lead.
• The Inferno scored their lone run in the top of the fifth on a Carina Jimenez RBI ground out to second.
