How It Happened
• York loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning, and had a chance to really blow the game open in their first try with the bats. With the bases loaded and just one out, the Spartans were unable to plate even one run, and in a game that runs were at a premium, it was vital to cross some runs in the first inning. In the second inning, York had two base runners on, and again could not manufacture any runs. The Green and White would finish with 10 runners left on the base paths.
• The Spartans were finally able to get on the board when Carleigh Ruleman smoked a ball for a solo home run to left field in the top of the third inning. The homer was her 14th on the year, a team high. Meanwhile, Ginger Lewis was dealing in the circle for York. She didn't allow a base runner until the top of the fourth inning. But, when she did, the Lions capitalized. Jordan Chell led off with a double, and she scored when Regina Milburn doubled with one out. Milburn took the lead for Albright 2-1 when she scored on an error.
• Neither team could get any offense going then until the sixth inning when Albright added another run to their lead. Chell scored on a Corinne Garuffe single to right field after Chell led off the inning with a double for the second time in the game. The Spartans got two hits in both the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings, but could not manage any runs, stranding another four runners on the bases.

How It Happened
• Jordan Chell carried Albright for much of the afternoon, and in the second game, she started things for the Lions again. In the top of the first, she singled to left to lead off the inning, and would eventually come around to score to take a 1-0 lead. York answered in the bottom half to tie it 1-1. Savannah Zittle was hit by a pitch, then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Katie Maloney, and scored on a double from Carleigh Ruleman.
• The Spartans took the lead in the bottom of the second, when Ashley Werner scored on a single from Quinn Fisher. The lead, however, was short lived. Albright leveled the score in the top of the third off of Melissa Jurkiewicz, who won her 14th game of the year in the circle on Monday.
• York exploded in the bottom of the fifth for four runs on four hits. Zittle started the inning with a walk, then Maloney reached on a bunt single. Joanna Marmo flew out and Zittle was doubled up at second. Maloney did move to second on a heads-up play, though. While the Lions were celebrating their double play, they lost sight of second base, and Maloney took off. Ruleman walked on four pitches to bring up Haley Hirn with two outs. Hirn blitzed a ball to center field, scoring Maloney to take the lead at 3-2. Ruleman moved to third and Hirn to second on the throw home. Then Werner singled to center, another hard hit ball, and both Hirn and Ruleman scored. Savannah Galati pinch-hit and drove Werner home to conclude the inning. York led 6-2 into the sixth inning.
• Zittle, with one out, singled through the left side. She moved to second when Maloney also singled. Marmo made it three in a row with a single of her own, scoring Zittle and moving Maloney to third. Ruleman kept it going with another single, scoring Maloney. Then Hirn made it five consecutive base hits, scoring Marmo, and thanks to an error on the throw from the outfield, Ruleman came running home as well finishing the game at 10-2 in six innings. It was fitting that Maloney and Ruleman played vital roles in finishing the game off, as they were both playing in their final games at Spartan Stadium, finishing out remarkable careers. The victory also marked the 100th win as head coach for Jen Petteys.
