How it Happened:
• The Spartans did not get off to the fastest start, conceding the first goal of the game just under three minutes into the first half. Maddie Parker was able to get Dickinson on the board first. Less than two minutes later, though, Devin Hursey was fouled and buried her free-position shot to tie the game at one. Hursey went 1-for-2 on free-position shots in the season opener against Haverford, and continued that success on Wednesday. Rachel Saks, who is off to a fast start this season with two goals in the opener, snuck through the defense and finished her chance just over five minutes later, giving the Spartans a 2-1 lead at the 20-minute mark.

• Then, for the next seven minutes, both teams exchanged multiple goals, largely taking advantage of their free-position shots. First it was Maddy Siebold, of Dickinson, who leveled the game at two just 40 seconds after York took their first lead of the game. Hursey, another freshman, who was 2-for-2 on free-position shots, responded with her second goal, giving York another lead at 3-2. Less than three minutes later, Dickinson equalized yet again.

• Freshman Meghan Fox followed up her debut with another outstanding performance. She slotted home two consecutive goals to finally create some separation from the Red Devils. Her first came unassisted, then received a pass from Saks to score the second. York held that 5-3 advantage for over eight minutes before Dickinson again drew closer, trimming the lead to 5-4.

• Less than 30 seconds later, the Green and White were able to get a goal before the half thanks to a beautifully-designed play resulting in a Melissa Meehling goal as she wrapped around the goal, caught a pass from Fox and quickly turned and finished. The goal was Meehling's second of the season, and helped York take a 6-4 halftime lead.

• The Spartans wasted no time in the second half, scoring 4 goals in the first four minutes and 17 seconds to push their lead to 10-4. Saks scored her fourth of the year and second of the game, Fox added another, and freshman Regan Cook scored her first two of the game in a matter of 30 seconds, one of them on an extra-man opportunity. Cook had four points on three goals and an assist in her career debut against Haverford.

• Dickinson would answer with a goal of their own, but the five-goal lead was plenty for the Spartans, holding the Red Devils scoreless for the last 22 minutes, winning 11-5 after yet another Fox goal, her fourth of the game.
