YORK, Pa.  – The York College softball team picked up a 5-0 win in game two of a non-conference doubleheader with Hood College on Wednesday afternoon to record its 20th win of the season. The Spartans now have back-to-back 20-win seasons under fourth-year head coach Jen Petteys.

How It Happened: 

•    The Spartans got on the board first as Brittany Myers dinged her first career home run in thebottom of the second inning.

• Hood got that run back in the top of the third on a double to left center by Sophia Leaman
• The Blazers then broke open a lead in the fourth inning as they put four runs on the board on five hits.
• Hood took a 5-1 lead in the top of the sixth with one run on three more hits.
• The Spartans responded in the bottom of the sixth frame when Savannah Galati singled to right field to drive in Haley Hirn.
• The Spartans saved their highest-scoring inning for last, but only managed to put two runs on board, which couldn't cover the five-deficit they faced entering the inning.

How It Happened: 

•    Hirn led off the second with a walk and Myers recorded an infield single to put two runners on. Courtney Martin then singled to center to drive in Hirn. Next up was Courtney Gall who singled to right field to drive in Myers.

• York put two more runs on the board in fourth as Maloney stung a triple to left center to score Gall from first. Next, Savannah Zittle drove in Maloney with double to left.
• The Spartans had the bases loaded with no outs in the sixth, but only managed one run as Ashley Werner put the ball in play and reached on a fielder's choice, but Maloney scored from second after advancing from third on a throwing error.
• The Blazers had something cooking in the seventh with two runners in scoring position, but Courtney Martin held the runners stranded as she picked up a strikeout for the final out.
