#16 Women's Lacrosse Earns CAC Fourth Seed Following 10-5 Road Win at #15 CNU

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The No. 16 Spartans ended the regular season on a positive note as they went on the road and picked up a 10-5 Capital Athletic Conference victory over No. 15 Christopher Newport on Saturday.

How it happened:

  • Jordan Cassella put York on the board first with a man-up goal just over five minutes in.
  • The Captains responded a minute later with a free-position goal and then tacked on another four minutes later to take a 2-1 lead.
  • Katelyn Cattrano tallied back-to-back goals three minutes apart to put York ahead 3-1.
  • Brittany Noell put York ahead 4-2 with less than five minutes to go in the first half.
  • The Spartans picked up right where they left off to start the second half as Allison Kolacy and Noell tallied goals within the first eight minutes to extend the lead to 6-2.
  • The Captains tallied three goals in the second half, but each time they were matched by Spartan goals.
  • Katherine Burk led York in the second half with two goals and Cattrano capped off the scoring with a man-up goal in the final minute to bring her point total to six on the day.
